All of our course writers are leaders in their fields and are at the forefront of currently scientific research and industry norms. Shelley was our lead course writer on our Level 3 Pre and Postnatal Exercise & Nutrition qualification, and designed and wrote our Exercise & Training Through Menopause course. Shelley has been in the fitness industry for over 20 years, first graduating at Brighton University with a Sport Science degree, then leading into a Further Education Teaching degree. Shelley lectured in Sport Science in Brighton and Portsmouth before moving London. In London Shelley worked at Premier Training and collected extensive experience in the forefront of the fitness industry. Shelley continues to work as an assessor for brands such as; Frame and TrainFitness. During lockdown Shelley started to convert a shipping container into a fully functioning gym, which she now runs as a private gym with her own her PT business in Lewes and Brighton.

Gavin was the lead course writer on our L4 Advanced Sports Nutrition Course, and supportive writer on our L2/L3 Gym Instructing and Personal Training course. Gavin is well known within the fitness industry for his feature national BBC One documentary titled ‘Supersize Cabbies’ where he coached a group of taxi drivers to achieve impressive health and body composition transformations. He has experience and qualifications across many disciplines of health and wellbeing such as in personaltraining/specialist fitness training, nutrition, injury rehabilitation and psychology. With his unique skillset he can support clients at opposite ends of the health spectrum, from teenage elite athletes to elderly COPD patients. Alongside practically delivering sessions with his personal clients he uses his accumulated expert knowledge to support the next generation of personal trainers and nutritionists through his work as a university lecturer, health based public speaker, tutor, assessor and course writer.

ACA qualified chartered accountant, Financial Consultant

Sian is the lead writer on our Small-business Finance course which is launching soon. Siân is an ACA qualified chartered accountant. She graduated with a first-class degree from the University of Exeter and now works as a freelance financial consultant. With an interest in startups and health and wellness companies, Siân has moved from working in a large accounting firm to helping smaller business owners fulfil their potential. She has a passion for financial education and sharing the knowledge she has gained from working in the city.

Melissa has 25 years’ experience working within the health and fitness sector. During this time she has worked in many parts of the industry starting as an exercise to music instructor and progressing onto a personal trainer, before she developed her career and moved into education, firstly as a teacher and assessor then into internal quality assurance and external quality assurance. She has taught, assessed and verified across a range of qualifications including Gym Instructing, Personal Training, exercise to music alongside many short vocational courses.  

Melissa is very active in the health and fitness sector regularly teaching group exercise classes, is a group exercise coordinator for a large health club chain, an online tutor / assessor and course writer assisting the next generation of fitness professionals who are looking to join the industry.

Caroline is a co-writer on our Exercise & Training Through Menopause course. Caroline has been in the fitness industry for 16 years teaching an array of classes as the boutique fitness scene boomed in London. After qualifying as a PT she then honed her interest in pre and post natal and became one of the leading trainers in her field. She headed up “Mumhood” which was the first brand to specialise in pre and post classes in gyms and then branched out into working with Academies to deliver qualifications and writing courses in 2016. Caroline runs retreats, teaches classes, trains clients and mentors. Better to be busy than bored! She can be found online as Pre/Post trainer on “Give me strength” by Alice Liveing and for Retreats “&Breathe wellbeing".
